All of the beer produced at Brew Republic is made with premium ingredients that are all-natural and locally sourced when available. Our tap room features 12 taps that pour no fewer than 6 different styles at a time for on-site consumption in 4 ounce or 12 ounce glasses. We also fill growlers and grumblers, as well as half-barrel and sixtel kegs for off-site consumption. All of our beers are meticulously designed by our brew master and crafted by our brewing team to echo local, regional and national craft beer trends while appealing to the specific tastes of craft beer lovers and casual beer drinkers alike.

Helles Munich Lager | 5.0% ABV | 18.0 IBU
Our Patriot 212 Golden Lager is specifically designed to bridge the gap between those who drink industrial American pale lagers and the world of craft beer. It’s light, clear and easy drinking, but unlike the big beers we all know, Patriot 212 is a properly made Munich Helles golden lager with a flavor profile and aroma that are guaranteed to please. The prevailing sweet malt flavor is meticulously highlighted with just enough noble hop bitterness to provide balance, resulting in a smooth, medium-bodied, bright golden lager.
Amber Ale | 6.1% ABV | 27.9 IBU
This amber ale is steeped in Colonial Virginian heritage, as well as American-grown barley and hops, to create a delicious, medium-bodied ale with modest alcohol and hop bitterness. The flavor and aroma are of sweet, toasty, and biscuity malt with caramel and toffee richness and just a dash of bitterness for balance. The beer pours a beautiful deep copper-color with a creamy white head.
American Pale Ale | 6.5% ABV | 38.0 IBU
Distant Shore is a pale amber colored adaptation of a west-coast pale ale. Our pale ale has a clean malt backbone that supports a hop forward flavor profile, showcasing citrusy American hop character. Late addition hopping imparts grassy, resiny, and citrus aromas to accentuate your palate. Distant Shore is not as bold as his big brothers, making him a perfect stepping stone into the land of the IPAs. It’s a refreshing and enjoyable hop experience that doesn’t require as much of a workout.
India Pale Ale | 6.5% ABV | 42.1 IBU
Our signature, hop-forward East Coast IPA is made by Virginians, for Virginians. VaIPA (or Virginia IPA) is brewed with 100% locally sourced Virginia pride and attitude to create a hoppy yet smooth finishing delight. The rock-solid pale and crystal malt bill and aggressive hop schedule of citrus and floral hops are in perfect harmony and deliver a clean, well-balanced, malty sweet and citrusy flavor. We also add late additions and dry hops to craft a prominent floral hop aroma that finishes the beer perfectly. VaIPA embodies the surging Virginia craft beer industry and is a beer we can all be proud to say is “made in Virginia.” Sic semper zythum!
American Blonde Ale | 5.9% ABV | 21.6 IBU
Abide is a traditional, malt-forward, light-bodied and easy drinking ale. Balanced with sweet malt flavors and modest hop notes, our blonde is approachable and less assertive than our other ales, yet completely satisfying, particularly on a hot summer afternoon. The sweet malt notes together with very subtle bitter hop notes means Abide is an easy-drinking “every man’s” kind of beer. We bet you can’t have just one.
Baltic Porter | 7.0% ABV | 21.1 IBU
It takes a strong libation to properly fuel a Viking raiding party. Requiem is just what the raiders ordered. This Baltic porter is a robust dark brown porter brewed with a complex blend of dark Munich, brown, crystal, and chocolate malts, giving it a rich flavor profile that consists of roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel, and toffee sweetness. The intricate taste is perfectly complimented by a dash of spicy Saaz hops and alcohol heat, ideal for a cold night along the Baltic Sea (or the Potomac River).
Oatmeal Stout | 5.0% ABV | 30.3 IBU
The Night Mare is a jet black, medium-bodied dry stout that pours with a tan, creamy head. The flavor is dominated by dark roasted grains that provide coffee and chocolate flavor notes, as well as oats that provide a grainy creaminess. The hops are subdued for balance. This stout will haunt your dreams, and you will thank her for it.
Irish Red Ale | 5.5% ABV | 21.0 IBU
When the Irish sought independence from England, they set out to create a free state where they could throw off the yoke of tyranny and live their lives the way they saw fit. We brewed our Irish Red Ale with that same spirit of freedom in mind. Vanguard is a traditional, balanced, easy-drinking, red-copper-colored ale with a subtle hoppy bitterness and a dry finish. It has a moderate malty aroma and a clean and smooth flavor of biscuit maltiness and caramel sweetness. Close your eyes; you might imagine you’ve escaped to your own free state!
Root Beer | 0.0% ABV | N/A IBU
Not everyone wants to drink alcohol; not everyone is old enough to drink alcohol. Fortunately, not all beer contains alcohol. We gave our fermenters a rest and brewed up a sweet treat for young and old! Presenting Republic Root Beer, a 100% caffeine and alcohol free libation that is good for the soul and the sweet tooth. Our root beer is brewed with local honey from local bees for a more full bodied root beer experience. That local honey might also help you fight off allergies. It’s a pretty sweet deal.
Witbier | 4.7% ABV | 11.0 IBU
Wayward Wit is a crisp, pale-straw colored Belgian ale with hazy elegance and refreshingly sweet flavor, courtesy of blended barley, wheat, and oats, as well as generous additions of various citrus zests, coriander and chamomile flower. Delicately balanced with low-key spicy and earthy hop varieties, Wayward Wit is a tasty and surefire way to satisfy your thirst.
Belgian Dubbel Abbey Ale | 8.0% ABV | 20.0 IBU
Two Headed Monster is an attractive dark copper-colored Belgian dubbel abbey ale that will transport you back to a Middle Ages monastery. This dubbel is brewed with 100% European barley, candi syrup, hops, and a classic Abbey yeast. It is rich and complex with a malty sweet flavor, dry finish, and hints of ripe banana, black pepper spice, caramel, raisins, cherries, and a touch of perfumy alcohol in the nose.

Firefly Bock is a light amber-colored Helles Maibock that is transitional and perfectly suited for spring. Farmhouse Ale | 6.2% ABV | 30.4 IBU
Sovereign Ale is a golden colored Belgian saison that is moderately hopped and is dry, light, and refreshing. Subtle amounts of malted barley are balanced by spicy hops and yeast flavors, such as fruit, spice, clove, and pepper, to create a refreshing ale with a fruity and mildly floral nose.

Our Clean Sheet Wheat Hefeweisen is brewed with German malts, hops and yeast, as well as a dash of orange peel for balance. It is pale straw colored and cloudy, courtesy of the healthy dose of wheat in the mash. Clean Sheet Wheat’s flavor notes include banana and clove, and an ever so slight hint of bubblegum. It’s light, crisp, and perfect for your summer get-away, or any other “clean sheet” you have planned.

The people demanded a pumpkin, and we delivered a perfect autumn harvest treat. The People’s Pumpkin is an orange colored pumpkin ale brewed with barley, pumpkin, and pumpkin spice. It’s ideal for your holiday celebrations, keeping warm on a cool autumn night or for general fall merriment.

Just in time for the volksmarch, our Mox Nix Märzenbier is an Oktoberfest lager made in the classic Bavarian tradition. We use 100% Reinheitsgebot-approved German grains, hops and yeast, along with a touch of American hops and muscle, to create an easy-drinking, medium-bodied lager that is perfect for festing. Prost!
Christmas Ale | 6.3% ABV | 37.0 IBU
Our gift to our loyal fans at Christmas time: Commonwealth Christmas Ale is a seasonally-spiced ale, brewed with caramel, wheat, roasted barley, and biscuit malts, as well as Cascade and Hallertau hops, cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger, honey, and Irish yeast. We also sprinkled a little holiday cheer into the mix, just for good measure. ‘Tis the season!

Snowmageddon is a dark, robust and flavorful ale that is designed to complement the cold nights of winter. Our warmer is brewed with dark roasted barley, hops, maple syrup and various wintery spices, including cinnamon and nutmeg. It makes you want to get snowed-in.
Wee Heavy Scotch Ale | 9.0% ABV | 28 IBU
William the Butcher Wee Heavy is big, dark, and will lay waste to your senses – and you will like it. This tartan beauty is a traditional malt-forward Scottish-style ale made with sweet, bready malts, English hops, and Scottish Yeast. It is richly malty with caramel sweetness and complexities that linger throughout the flavor and aroma profiles.

Thomas Payne penned his treatise that outlined all the reasons for independence; we brewed a beer that pretty much articulates the same points. And just like Payne’s Common Sense, there’s nothing common about this California common ale. Uncommon Sense is our adaptation of a classic American style, and a tribute to the American brewer pioneers of the late 1800s. Our Common is a medium-amber colored easy-drinker with moderately toasted malt flavor and rustic, woody hops in the nose and palate. It’s bright, approachable, and sure to please.
Double IPA | 9.3% ABV | 100+ IBU
“Now I am become hops, the destroyer of palates.” Hoppenheimer Double IPA weighs in at a menacingly high ABV and carries a payload of malt and hops that will make you rethink your life. This hop-forward beer is strong and complex, with a dry finish and an aggressive citrusy aroma, courtesy of generous and borderline insane late addition and dry-hopped American hops. You wanted a hop-bomb, and now you have it.
Black IPA | X.X% ABV | XX.X IBU
Partisan IPA is a black IPA/Cascadian Ale that is full-bodied, dark and distinctly toasty, yet well-balanced with IPA-levels of bitter and citrusy American hops. This menacing juxtaposition of sweet malt and bitter hops will send your palate into a frenzy, but totally in a good way, and you’ll be instantly converted to the dark side.
Red IPA | X.X% ABV | XX.X IBU
Res Publica IPA (or Republic IPA) is a malt-forward bittersweet IPA that is loaded with caramel and chocolate malts, giving it a gorgeous ruby red hue. The malts are in perfect balance, with generous amounts of Amarillo and nugget hops that contribute a beautiful hoppy nose. One taste and you’ll be shouting “To the republic, if you can keep it!”
Rye IPA | 6.5% ABV | 68.0 IBU
Mockingbird IPA is a reddish copper colored ale that has all the citrusy hop character of your favorite IPA but with a more robust spicier malt profile, courtesy of a generous addition of German rye. The resulting treat is a complex palate pleaser that will keep you coming back for more, all the while mocking you with its pleasant, mischievous song.
White IPA | 6.5% ABV | XX.X IBU
Our Cheshire IPA is a hoppier version of our Wayward Wit witbier. We took our delicious Belgian witbier, as amazing as it was, and added copious amounts of citrusy American hops in strategic balance to the wheat, coriander, orange zest, chamomile and Belgian yeast. The resulting summery hopfest is real, and it’s spectacular.
If you’ve been in the tap room regularly, you’ve no doubt seen and experienced Randall–the two-chambered beer infusion device that sits on our back bar next to the taps and has strange beers coming out of it.
His full name is Randall the Enamel Animal, and he is the intellectual property of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Delaware.
According to Dogfish founder Sam Calagione, “Randall the Enamel Animal is the original gangster organoleptic hop transducing module. Basically, it’s a sophisticated filter system that allows the user to run draft beer through a chamber of whole-leaf hops, spices, herbs, fruit, etc. so that the alcohol in the beer strips the flavor from whatever you add and puts it in the beer.”
Randall was originally designed by Dogfish to hop the crap out of their IPAs in order to win a hoppy beer contest back in 2002. Not long after that, they were being asked to build more for other breweries, and the rest is history.
Our Randall has yet to see any additional hops in his infusion chamber but that is certainly not outside the realm of possibility. We’ve done espresso beans, cocao nibs, mangos, habanero peppers, caramel, and apples so far, and have our sites on tootsie rolls, coconut, strawberries, vanilla beans, oranges, peppermint, peppercorns, and all sorts of other combinations.
What’s the method to the madness? There isn’t any.
Do we test things first? Nope.
That’s not entirely true of course – we taste it once it’s in Randall before we let you all have any, and if the combo is clearly not working, we’ll call an audible. But realistically, the combinations all “sound” like they’ll work before we hook Randall up, and so far, we haven’t been wrong.
It aint rocket science.
And now, we’re letting you decide what goes into our Randall. Have any great ideas of what would go great infused into beer? Let us know what flavor-enhancing ingredients (like fruit, coffee beans, spices, whatever else) you think would go well with one of our beers on drought. We’ll take the best ideas and create a poll each week for other citizens to vote on. The top choice each week will be featured in our taproom on Thursdays (4-7pm) and the citizen submitting the winning idea will get a sample of the beer they concocted. Have your ideas submitted before Sunday of each week so voting can start Mondays. Submissions made after Sundays will be considered for the next poll.
